Surgery Nurse
Surgical nurses help the surgical technicians plan the operating room and coordinate it. We will provide the patient with pre-procedural orders, prescribe any drugs, and assist other healthcare professionals with items like sterilization and IV lines start. When the operation begins, they have to monitor the vital signs of the patients, move instruments on to the surgeons and operate surgical equipment. When there are issues, such as irregular vital signs, they need to convey that to the team. They must also be prepared to carry out lifesaving procedures where appropriate. We are also responsible for post-operative treatment, such as transportation of the patient to their bed, monitoring of their condition, and treatment. Post-operative care often includes prescribing medications, removing essential substances and teaching the patient about post-operative treatment.
